The proposed schedule:
Day One
Arrive during Monday and enjoy your first evening meal and
meet your host and tutor for the course, Nicola Blakemore
Day two
Introduction to the course and a look at some painted pieces
and discuss how the effects were achieved and where they would
be appropriate. We will look at types pf paint and a palette of
colours which would be suitable for furniture, depending on
decorative style and surroundings. We will also look at some
historical anf regional influences including fabrics.
Later it will be time for 'hands On', by
working with some small sample boards to practise the effects we
have discussed, including distressed and antique crackle.
Day Three
Having covered some of the groundwork for your finished piece,
we can now progress onto the decorative details and how to make
a stencil look like hand painting and decorative gilding. Some
of these you will be able to use on your finished item, which
you will take home with you.
Towards the end of the day you will base coat
your item so it is ready to complete on the last day.
Day Four
This is the chance to go to Pezenas, the birthplace of
Moliere, where you can spend tha day as you wish. Looking at the
many antique and brocante shops, sampling a long french lunch or
browsing round the old Jewish quarter.
Day Five
Time to finish your design and work on your masterpiece using
the techniques you have learnt. Nicola will be on hand to assist
you.
Day Six
A fond farewell and hope to see you again!
The above schedule
may be subject to change
