May 30th - June 4th 2010

This course is designed for you if you learnt a bit of French at school or from travelling in France but it is now feeling a bit rusty..... all levels catered for but might not be suitable for complete beginners

Lost for words?
Can you order in French the dish you have chosen?
Can you guarantee that the glass of wine you receive is the one you wanted?
Can you ask for the cheese you see at the Cremerie stall in the market?

Improve your everyday French vocabulary 'in the field'
Practise the art of French conversation in a small group with a French native tutor and experience a new satisfaction in the market, the restaurant, the wine tasting etc...
Join a French course at Chateau Ventenac for small group immersion

The course is based on the practice of conversation in small groups. New vocabulary and idiomatic expressions are taught every day. The practice can be role play, repetition, small group conversations etc... The emphasis is on giving each participant as much opportunity as possible to use the new words and expressions. The conversations relate to topics which are linked to everyday situations that one might encounter while holidaying or living in France.

As well as the above some necessary points of grammar and syntax are explained and practised with many examples. A meeting with French History and Culture is also part of the week and visits are well prepared in order to bring feelings of confidence and satisfaction.

It is strongly advised that only French is spoken at least in the morning during the more formal part of the course. As the days go by the more French is spoken, the more is learned

Anne Tandree

Anne Tandree was born in France, near Paris and grew up in Strasbourg; she was brought up bilingual in French and English. She moved to England and for many years taught French to English schoolchildren and gave private tuition to adults.

She is married and has two grown-up children and is currently working as an Art for Health Practitioner in a hospice.

She has retained her love of language teaching, and has had many opportunities to continue to use these skills in different situations, such as summer schools. She is particularly excited at the thought of teaching on this course in Ventenac because experience has shown her that the best and easiest way to improve one's French is by immersing oneself in the cultural atmosphere of the country.
