Wine Tours and Holidays at Château Ventenac
Château Ventenac, in the South of France, sits beside the Canal du Midi and makes a superb base to explore the wines of the Languedoc.
Languedoc-Roussillon is currently one of the world’s most interesting wine making regions and Master of Wine, Matthew Stubbs described the area as one of the most exciting and spectacular places to make wine on Earth. Its huge range of wines are widely acknowledged by critics and experts as worthy of attention, awards and accolades.
The Languedoc region in the South of France has a huge range of wines, Red, White, Rosé, Sweet or Sparkling, AOCs, Vin de Pays, single cépage wines and blends to choose from, so where do you start?

Languedoc-Rousillion is the world’s largest wine producing region and accounts for over 30% of the total French wine output.
Its wine production exceeds that of Bordeaux, of Australia, and that of South Africa and Chile combined.
The Languedoc-Rousillion region covers over 290,00 hectares and produces over 2 million bottles of wine. There are about 30 appellations and around 30% of the wine produced is exported, about 17% to the UK.
The South of France is no longer a sea of cheap wine with just a handful of quality producers. It’s now has dozens of serious, ambitious producers whose production is all about quality rather than quantity: in just under 20 years, Languedoc has actively reduced its production from an annual average of 29 million hectolitres to 16 million. |

As a wine educator, she has enthused countless wine lovers both in the UK and New Jersey, USA where she ran a wine school.
She worked a Vintage for Cakebread Cellars in Napa and has also worked as a wine buyer for the prestigious Wine Society in the UK before moving to the Languedoc in 2004.
Juliet now lives in the Minervois, exporting wines from top quality domaines and sharing her passion for Languedoc wines with visitors to the region.
