The
aim of this course is to teach you the principles of making Stained
Glass, so that by the end of the week you will be able to do the
basics, then it’s just PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE ……….
Accommodation
for the course will be in Chateau Ventenac’s stylish
B+B rooms
COURSE
ITINERARY
Monday
Arrive
any time after lunch on Monday. We are happy to collect you from
local Airports (Carcassonne, Beziers or Perpignan) and Railway
stations (Narbonne) Please call before booking your Flights if you need to be collected.
Please note we are also happy to help arrange your flight.
Monday
evening – Welcome drinks , meet your Tutor and
Dinner.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will all follow the same format.
Each
day will have 2 sessions in the studio with your tutors Jude and
Matt
Mornings - 10am - 12 noon
Afternoons - 2.30pm till 5.30 pm with a break for tea.
A buffet lunch will be served between 1-2pm.
We will gather on the terrace for aperitifs at around 7pm…an
opportunity to discuss the day's work and make plans for the next
day
Dinner will be served in the Dining Hall at about 7.30pm
On Friday night we will have a gala dinner and exhibition of work
Thursday is a free day, where you can choose to stay at the Chateau, sit
in the garden and enjoy the sun and relax. …or spend time
in the studio practising what you have learnt so far. Alternatively
we can arrange an outing to a local market or pottery.
You will be free to make your own plans for lunch and dinner
During
the week you will learn to:-

Cut glass
- Grind glass
- Design and make a pattern
- How to do lead - Copper foil work
- Use soldering techniques
- Cement and finish your work
With a maximum of 6 people on the course you will have all the
attention and help you need and by the end of the course you will
have the confidence and knowledge to continue your new found skill
at home.
We can sell you the equipment necessary to continue practicing
when you go home
It would be advisable to bring comfortable shoes and an old jumper
or apron as there is a lot of standing and the work can be a bit
messy
Intermediate and advanced courses are now being planned for later
in the year and the dates will be available soon
Prices:
From £595 per person (Single occupancy and En Suite rooms
are available at a supplement) and includes 6 nights accommodation, 6 Breakfasts, 4 Lunches,
5 Dinners, as much wine as you can drink and transport from
local Airports (Carcassonne, Beziers).
It
also includes all initial materials and the use of equipment.
(If a student would like to make something larger or more complicated
there will be a small charge to cover the cost of extra materials).
