This is is the fourth year my friends and I have rented Chateau Ventenac. We are 14 young professionals who make our way to France flying, driving or on the Eurostar. At the Chateau, Julia makes sure we have everything we need, from bike hire to wine tours. The outdoor terrace and large kitchen and dining space mean that we have no problem preparing meals together and in the evenings, if staying in is on the cards, the living room is massive and has a great open fire. Beds and bathrooms abound and are all top notch. My favourite bit of the Chateau is on the balcony outside the dining room, facing south towards the Pyrenees, shaded from the sun by the wisteria, drinking the rose from the vineyard at the bottom of the garden. Good times.. Vincent M Oct 2011
A great self-catering property for an extended family, including smaller kids. It is a charming property, close to many interesting towns and cities, within a short walk to a playground, and with lots of amenities on site (huge kitchen, swimming pool, BBQ & large terrace). Groceries for people who like to cook are the only real inconvenience, as there is nothing particularly close by other than staples. Winery next door has some good wines and the 2 restaurants across the street are both very good. October 2011
As a group of 12 the chateaux worked wonderfully. Enough rooms and bathrooms for everyone and space to meet and relax.
The kitchen was a great focual point large enough to cook for large numbers easily.
The service from Julie Bristow was excellent from the first enquiry to the final bond return. Nothing was too much trouble with bike hire, arrange chef and information on wine and canal tours promply attended to. A wonderful week was had by all the group. October 2011
..."We found the property extremely well suited to our large group and really appreciated the space it offered to our group of 14 - ranging in age from mid forties down to 7 months!
The weather was great and so we were able to have a good blend of sightseeing - visiting Carcassonne, Lagrasse and Collioure and relaxing by the pool. As a group we felt that the château had the best equipped kitchen we had experienced, and this made cooking for such a large group much easier than perhaps I had anticipated."
